Groove (“we,” “our,” or “us”) provides a self-service events management and ticketing platform for the LGBTQIA+ community. This Privacy Notice explains how we collect, use, share, and protect your personal information when you use our mobile application and related services (collectively, the “App”).
1. Information We Collect
We collect the following categories of information when you create an account, use the App, or interact with us.
A. Individual Users
Required to create an account:

Email address and password (via Firebase Authentication)

Optional profile details you may choose to provide:

Profile picture

Birthday

Other identifying information (pronouns, gender identity, race/ethnicity) – collected only to help event organizers understand their audiences; shared with organizers only in aggregated, anonymous form. 
B. Event Organizers
Required:

Venue/club/organization name

Location (address or service city)

Description

Profile or logo image (may choose from generic images)

C. Transaction Data
- 
Ticket purchase details (event, price, time of purchase) 
- 
Name of ticket purchaser (shared with the relevant event organizer) 
Payment card details are collected only by Stripe; we do not store or process your card numbers.
D. Technical Information
- 
Device identifiers, IP address, browser/user-agent strings, and log data necessary for security and app functionality. 
2. How We Use Your Information
We use the information described above to:
- 
Provide, maintain, and improve the App and its features 
- 
Process transactions and send confirmations 
- 
Enable event organizers to manage attendee lists 
- 
Send you service messages (e.g., purchase receipts, support responses) 
- 
Personalize your experience and display location-based events (if you enable location sharing) 
- 
Ensure the security and integrity of our platform and prevent abuse or fraud 
- 
Comply with legal obligations 
3. Sharing of Information
We do not sell your personal information. We share data only as described:
- 
Event Organizers: When you buy a ticket, we share your name and ticket details so organizers can manage attendance. Optional demographic information is shared only in aggregate, anonymized form. 
- 
Service Providers / Infrastructure: - 
Firebase (Google) – authentication, database, and file storage 
- 
Stripe – payment processing (organizers must connect their own Stripe account) 
- 
SendGrid – email communications (e.g., confirmations, support) 
- 
Google Maps API – to power location features (does not collect personal data on our behalf) 
- 
DigitalOcean – hosting of our Express.js backend 
 
- 
These providers act as our data processors and are bound by contractual confidentiality and security obligations.

Legal Requirements & Protection of Rights: We may disclose information when required by law or to protect our rights, property, or the safety of users. 
4. International Data Transfers
Because we use Firebase and other cloud services, your data may be stored or processed in the United States or other jurisdictions. We rely on appropriate safeguards (such as Standard Contractual Clauses) where required by law.
5. Your Choices and Rights
Depending on where you live (including California and Canada), you may have the right to:

Access the personal information we hold about you

Request correction or deletion of your personal information 
- 
Request to opt out of “sharing” for cross-context behavioral advertising (we do not engage in such sharing) 
- 
Request a portable copy of your information

You may also:
- 
Update or delete profile information in the App at any time 
- 
Disable location services through your device settings 
- 
Unsubscribe from non-transactional emails via the link in those emails 
6. Data Security & Retention
We implement reasonable technical and organizational measures to protect your information, including encryption in transit and at rest. We retain your data only as long as necessary for the purposes described in this notice or as required by law.
7. Children’s Privacy
Groove is not intended for individuals under 18 (or the age of majority in your jurisdiction). We do not knowingly collect information from children.
8. Changes to This Notice
We may update this Privacy Notice from time to time. The “Last Updated” date at the top reflects the most recent revision. Material changes will be communicated through the App or by email.

This Privacy Notice is intended to provide transparency and comply with applicable privacy laws including the California Consumer Privacy Act (CCPA/CPRA) and Canada’s Personal Information Protection and Electronic Documents Act (PIPEDA).
Note for California Residents (CCPA/CPRA): We do not sell or share personal information for cross-context behavioral advertising. You may exercise your rights as outlined in Section 5.
